Zoned Fluorite on Quartz with Chlorite “Beard” — Yaogangxian Mine
This specimen features a beautifully formed crystal of Fluorite showing distinct color zoning, where soft green layers transition into deeper violet tones toward the center of the crystal. These zones reflect different stages of growth as the chemistry of the mineral pocket changed over time.
Within the fluorite, subtle inclusions and phantom structures add depth and character. The phantoms appear as faint internal outlines of earlier crystal growth, like a crystal preserved inside another crystal.
The fluorite rests on a cluster of Quartz forming a natural “chlorite beard.” Fine inclusions of Chlorite give the quartz a mossy texture that contrasts beautifully with the glassy fluorite above.
A striking example of fluorite from the famous Yaogangxian Mine, a locality known for producing crystals with exceptional zoning, clarity, and complex internal features.
